One Summer, A World of Discovery!

Westside School offers a wide range of summer camp experiences. Camps are run by our experienced staff and outside specialists with experience in the arts -- providing fun summer activities shaped by the mission and values of Westside School. Register in January for an early bird discount, click here!

Westside Adventure Camp 2015

DATES & DESCRIPTIONS

WESTSIDE SCHOOL ADVENTURE CAMPS (Grades K-6)

June 15-19: Seattle Explorers

            Come kick off summer at Westside School and learn how it feels to be an explorer! We’ll cover the map and follow the compass as we explore Seattle, from famous landmarks to hidden trails, we’ll find them all!

June 22-26: History and Hijinks

            Seattle is a city with a rich history of distinct, interesting, and weird stuff! We’ll ask how Seattle came to be the city we know and love today, from the Denny Party to Jimi Hendrix.

July 6-10: Wild Washington

            Summer in Washington is famously beautiful, so we’ll get out and see what the Puget Sound region has to offer. We’ll learn about the wild landscape, the wild weather, and the wildlife that surrounds us in our wild state!

July 13-17: Musicians and Artists

            Come join us for a week of the fine arts. We’ll paint, dance, and rock out, all the while learning what the masters of the arts have created in the past. Get ready to get creative, and unleash your artistic side!

July 20-24: Cultures of the World

            Many of the cultures of the world are represented here in Seattle. We’ll take the opportunity to learn about some of the diverse peoples who have come to live and thrive here, and indulge in art, music, and food from all around the world.

July 27-31: Creatures and Critters

            Have you ever held a blue-tongued skink? Seen an otter play with its toy ball? Been up close and personal with owls, parrots, and eagles? This week, we’ll do all this and much more as we meet the many creatures and critters of Seattle.

August 3-7: Iron Chef: Westside School

            Come join us for a week of culinary arts and gustatory delights as we cook and eat our way through Seattle. We’ll learn how to bake, blend, and especially taste our favorite flavors, all the while learning from experts. Bon Appetit!

August 10-14: Wild World of Sports

            From the Mariners to the Seahawks, the Sounders to the… Sonics, Seattleites live for their sports! Come learn about the greats and play and practice your own skills with us as we take it to the next level.

August 17-21: Weird and Wicked Science

            Sometimes, science seems like pure magic! We’ll practice our lab methods, conduct bizarre experiments, and explore the weird, wicked world of Science!

August 24-28: The Last Hurrah! 

            Summer isn’t over until the very end, so we’ll take our last week to shout one last hurrah! We’ll head to the beach, climb the hills, and celebrate like it’s the endless summer we all dream about.

Hours: 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., before and after care available through Westside School Adventure Camp

iPad LEGO® ANIMATION: Science Fiction

Dates: July 6 through July 10

Hans Olo and Chewybacka join garjar bricks for an epic journey into the cybernaut planet of zorkar (you get the idea…) Students will use iPads (provided by C.A.N.) to take animation photos, and edit video and sound. Set, character and story construction will be taught while integrating subjects like math/science and visual/language arts. iPad CLAY ANIMATION: Dino World

Dates: 7/27-7/31

If you could travel back in time with a video camera and capture the world of dinosaurs what would you see? A Velocirapper? Tri-ceratops-athelon? Prontosaurus Rex? Students will use iPads (provided by C.A.N.) to take animation photos, and edit video and sound. Set, character and story construction will be taught. Lessons seamlessly integrate subjects like math/science and visual/language arts. Dates: August 3 through August 7

Depict your slick movie flick with a mix of tricky brick tricks. Students will use iPads (provided by C.A.N.) to take animation photos, and edit video and sound. Set, character and story construction will be taught while integrating subjects like math/science and visual/language arts. Sing Out Seattle

Sing Out Seattle dates and registration will be available soon through the Sing Out Seattle website,www.singoutseattle.com. Before and after care will be available through Westside School Adventure Camp. Stay posted for more details!
